Comparison Operators in Programming

Comparison operators are used to compare two values and return a boolean result (true or false).

What is a Comparison Operator?

A comparison operator is one or more symbols that tells the computer how to compare two values or variables.

The result of a comparison operator is a boolean value ( true or false ).

The most common comparison operators are

  • == (Equal to)
  • != (Not equal to)
  • > (Greater than)
  • < (Less than)
  • >= (Greater than or equal to)
  • <= (Less than or equal to)

In the example below, we use the == operator to compare the value 10 with the value 5 , to check if they are equal:

Runnable example

print(10 == 5)
